The Osun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered inside a church premises in the Obelawo area of Osogbo, the state capital.
The woman was found dead at the church, prompting police detectives to visit the scene and begin preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to the police, preliminary findings indicated that the woman had allegedly been slaughtered, while her left wrist was reportedly severed and taken away by unknown persons.
The motive behind the killing and the circumstances leading to the woman's death have not yet been established.
The police said efforts were ongoing to identify the deceased and unravel what happened to her.
The corpse was subsequently deposited at a hospital mortuary for autopsy as part of efforts to establish further details about the death.
The State Command's Investigation Department has also commenced a full investigation into the incident, while efforts are being made to identify and apprehend those responsible.
